How to choose the right NOx reduction strategy

NOx reduction at the BES VSG biomass-fired cogeneration plant in France

Just as there are many reasons boiler operators should want to reduce their NOx emissions, there are also several different ways to go about it, including various primary and secondary techniques.

The choice of which solution would work best for your existing boiler depends on a number of factors. Boiler and furnace design, fuel, fouling, flue gas, reagents, existing levels of emissions, CAPEX, OPEX and more must all be taken into account.

Because each situation is different, AET’s team of experts can work with you to determine which means of NOx reduction would be most efficient and cost-effective.

As a starting point, we recommend that you download our comprehensive e-book to understand more about the various means of NOx reduction and the advantages and disadvantages of each. The e-book also covers Best Available Techniques for NOx reduction, provides an overview of current and future emissions legislation and presents a number of real-world case studies.

New call-to-action

The relative CAPEX and OPEX of the various techniques will naturally play a role when deciding which solution is best for your boiler installation. That's why the e-book includes the information you need to make a well-rounded decision about how each technique might affect your business.

You can also visit our Knowledge Hub for a collection of articles on NOx reduction. At AET, we know that no two operations are the same, so if you need more personalised advice, please do not hesitate to contact our team for further assistance.
